Information We Collect Personal Information You Provide When creating an account or using What2Eat, you may provide: Name Email or login credentials Dietary goals, calorie targets, macro preferences, and any modes you select Restaurants, meals, scans, or items you choose to save Feedback or messages submitted through support We do not collect or store your payment information. All payments and subscriptions are handled securely through the App Store or Google Play. Device & Technical Data We may collect: Basic device information Performance, crash, and analytics data General usage data to improve the app We do not collect your contacts, photos, microphone, or location unless you explicitly grant permission for a specific feature. Images & Menu Scans If you upload or scan an image: It is used only to extract menu text or generate meal recommendations It is processed temporarily and not stored unless you save it It is not used for facial recognition or biometric data 2. How We Use Your Information We use your information to: Provide personalized meal recommendations Match meals to your calorie and macro goals Analyze menus and text you upload Display and sync your preferences and saved items Improve performance, stability, and features Respond to support requests Your data is never sold or rented. 3. Third-Party Services and AI Processing What2Eat uses trusted third-party services for: Authentication (e.g., Supabase, Apple Sign-In) Analytics and crash reporting Secure cloud storage AI-powered menu analysis and natural-language processing Some features rely on third-party AI systems or models, such as: Perplexity AI OpenAI All data shared with AI models is used only to provide the feature you requested and is transmitted securely. 4. Image & Menu Data Handling Collection: Only images you intentionally upload. Use: Images are used only to extract menu items, analyze text, estimate nutrition, or generate personalized meal recommendations. Retention: Images are deleted automatically after processing unless you manually choose to save outputs linked to the scan. Sharing: Image data is shared only with necessary processors to perform the requested feature and only after you grant explicit permission. 5. Data Security We use encryption, secure servers, and industry-standard safeguards to protect your information. Although no system is completely secure, we actively work to prevent unauthorized access and misuse. 6.
